The Eastern Wrestling League's Wrestler of the Week for the week ended February 20, 2000, is Edinboro University's 184-pound senior KEVIN WELSH. A native of Ohio, Mr. Welsh had two big dual-meet wins this past week. On 2/17/00, the Pitt Panthers threw a scare into the Scots, losing the dual meet by only one point. Instrumental in the Edinboro victory was Kevin Welsh, whose major decision helped Edinboro to the 16-15 win. The following night, Welsh again helped lead Edinboro to victory, with a huge 3-1 OT win over West Virginia's Vertus Jones. Mr. Jones, by the way, is ranked second in the nation at 184 pounds. Edinboro won the dual meet 25-9 and have clinched the EWL Dual Meet Championship for 2000! A very good week for Edinboro's KEVIN WELSH, our EWL Wrestler of the Week.
