EASTERN WRESTLING LEAGUE WRESTLER OF THE WEEK

Our EWL Wrestlers of the Week for the week ended February 20, 2011, are the Pittsburgh Panthers.  On February 19, the University of Pittsburgh beat Edinboro University in a hard fought dual meet at Edinboro.  The final score was 19-16, and the win earned Pitt the EWL dual meet team title for the 2011 season.  The Panthers also won the EWL dual meet crown last season.

The Edinboro dual meet was Pittsburgh’s final dual of the season, and Rande Stottlemyer’s team completed its EWL vs. EWL dual meet season undefeated at 6-0.  The Panthers won five bouts in the meet, as follows:  Anthony Zanetta had a pin at 125 pounds; NCAA All-American Tyler Nauman grabbed a decision at 141; Donnie Tasser won by decision at 157;  Ethan Headlee gained a major at 165 pounds; and heavy weight Ryan Tomei won by decision.

Congratulations to the University of Pittsburgh wrestling team, our EWL Wrestlers of the Week.

This is our final EWL Wrestler of the Week award for the 2011 season.  Coming up next on the EWL calendar is the EWL Tournament, to be held on Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Bloomsburg University.  We look forward to seeing you there!
