EASTERN WRESTLING LEAGUE WRESTLER OF THE WEEK
The Eastern Wrestling League Wrestler of the Week for the week ended December 14, 2008, is Joel Webster. Webster, a junior at Edinboro University, competes at 141 pounds, and is from Norfolk, Connecticut. On Sunday, December 14, 2008, the Edinboro Fighting Scots hosted the sixth-ranked team in the nation, Ohio State, gave them a good go, but came out on the short end of a 19-12 final score.
In that dual meet Mr. Webster had the task of taking on highly ranked J. Jaggers, who is the defending NCAA champion at 141 pounds. The match was close late in the third period, then, with only 12 seconds remaining in the bout, Webster took Jaggers down to register a 5-4 upset win. The victory elevated Webster's season W/L record to 7-2. Edinboro, currently ranked 17th in the nation, now has a dual-meet record of 5-2.
Good job Joel Webster, our EWL Wrestler of the Week!
Also, a tip of the EWL headgear to Cleveland State's Jordan Keller. This past weekend Mr. Keller captured the 125-pound title at the Cleveland State Open.
