EASTERN WRESTLING LEAGUE WRESTLER OF THE WEEK

We are two-thirds of the way through our intra-EWL dual meet competition, and, thanks to two victories this past week over EWL foes, Edinboro is 4-0.  The Fighting Scots bested Bloomsburg on February and Cleveland State on February 6, to move a half-step ahead of West Virginia and Pittsburgh, who each have three EWL dual meet wins and one tie.

Within the setting of the tight race for the EWL dual meet championship, our EWL Wrestler of the Week for the week ended February 8, 2009, is Edinboro heavyweight Joe Fendone.  Fendone, who is nationally ranked, is a senior from Salem, New Hampshire, and majors in Health and Physical Education.  Joe had a solid week, winning both his dual meet bouts, and helping lead the Fighting Scots to their two wins.  Mr. Fendone pinned his Bloomsburg opponent, and then racked up a 3-1 decision over nationally ranked Rashard Goff of Cleveland State.

Congratulations to Joe Fendone, our EWL Wrestlers of the Week.

Further, a tip of the EWL headgear to Eric Morrill (125 pounds) of Edinboro and heavyweight Ryan Tomei of Pittsburgh.  On February 7, 2009, these two warriors soldiered through the Edinboro Open to claim titles.  Good job guys.
