The Eastern Wrestling League Wrestler of the Week for the week ended December 9, 2007, is defending NCAA champion Gregor Gillespie of Edinboro University. Mr. Gillespie is a junior from Webster, New York, who this season is competing at 157 pounds.
On December 8, 2007, Gillespie won the eight-team Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crown and was voted OW. Gregor won his quarter final bout by a 17-0 tech fall, then won his semi-final match by a 16-0 tech fall. In the finals, Gillespie scored a 12-0 major decision. In addition, Mr. Gillespie helped lead Edinboro to the PSAC team title, with the Fighting Scots racking up a whopping 152.5 points.
Besides Gillespie, eight other EWL grapplers won PSAC titles this past weekend, and we tip our EWL headgear to them. They are: Mike Sees of Bloomsburg at 125 pounds, Rick Deubel of Edinboro at 133, Daryl Cocozzo of Edinboro at 149, Jarrod King of Edinboro at 165, Phil Moricone of Edinboro at 174, Dan Thompson of Edinboro at 184, Pat Bradshaw of Edinboro at 197, and Mike Spaid of Bloomsburg at 285.
