The Eastern Wrestling League Wrestler of the Week for the week ended February 3, 2008, is Matt Fittery.  Matt is a fourth-year junior at Lock Haven University, from Denver, Pennsylvania, who competes for the Bald Eagles at 149 pounds.  Fittery placed third in the 2005 EWL Tournament as a true freshman, qualified for the NCAA's, and completed that season with 15 wins.

Mr. Fittery redshirted the 2006 year and then missed most of last season because of injury.  Matt is back and having a good 2008.

This past week Fittery cobbled together two significant dual-meet wins in matches against Cleveland State and West Virginia.  Against Cleveland State Matt decisioned mat veteran, Ryan Hurley, by a score of 8-2, then, in the West Virginia meet, he beat another good wrestler, David Jauregui, 8-2.  Fittery's current focus is the remainder of the dual-meet season, the EWL Tournament, then on to the NCAA's.

Congratulations to Matt Fittery, our EWL Wrestler of the Week.
