Clarion University's Sal Lascari
The Eastern Wrestling League Wrestler of the Week for the week ended December 24, 2006, is Sal Lascari, a third-year sophomore from Gray, Pennsylvania, who competes at 133 pounds for the Clarion University Golden Eagles. This past weekend Lascari, who graduated from North Star High School, and transferred to Clarion from Slippery Rock University, competed in the powerful Reno Tournament of Champions, and, although not getting a podium finish, did come home with four wins.
Clarion head coach Teague Moore took a full team out to Reno this past week to compete in the Reno college event. It's a large and strong tournament and the young Golden Eagles, needing some top competition, did take some lumps. Team leader, Sal Lascari, however, came away 4-2, and his four wins were by 17-2 tech fall, 16-4 major, 12-1 major, and 10-3 decision. Lascari's record for the season now is 14-6. Good job Sal!
Mr. Lascari, who is aiming for a degree in business management, is high on Clarion's wrestling future. In that regard, Lascari noted that coach Teague Moore gives his wrestlers, "…150 percent in every aspect of our wrestling and college life - particularly intensity on the mat and in the classroom. Coach Moore moves us up, one step at a time, and is fabulous." Lascari added that his younger brother Chris plans to enroll at Clarion University this coming fall.
Congratulations to Sal Lascari, our Eastern Wrestling League Wrestler of the Week!
Staff of the EWL Site also would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a very good holiday season! Thank you for your support of amateur wrestling.
