Edinboro University's Alex Clemsen and Bloomsburg University's Mike Sees

The Eastern Wrestling League Wrestlers of the Week (co-winners) for the week ended January 28, 2007, are Alex Clemsen, a senior at Edinboro University, and Mike Sees, a junior at Bloomsburg University.  The 64th annual Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament was held January 27, 2007, at Bloomsburg, and Messrs. Clemsen and Sees helped lead their teams to a first-place and second-place finish respectively, by winning their weight classes.

In the 184-pound finals, Clemsen bested Tom Kocher of Lock Haven by a score of 14-4.  That win made Alex Clemsen a four-time PSAC champion, and there have only been 13 other grapplers who have accomplished that feat.

Mike Sees won the 125-pound title, which is his second PSAC crown.  Sees defeated nationally ranked Obe Blanc of Lock Haven in the finals by a score of 10-5.  Following the conclusion of the event, the coaches voted Mike Sees outstanding wrestler.

Congratulations to Alex Clemsen and Mike Sees, our EWL Wrestlers of the Week!

The EWL would also like to tip its headgear to the other seven EWL wrestlers who won PSAC titles this past weekend.  They are:  Ricky Deubel of Edinboro (133 pounds); Darren Kern of Bloomsburg (141 pounds); Seth Martin of Lock Haven (157 pounds); Deonte Penn of Edinboro (165 pounds); Phil Moricone of Edinboro (174 pounds); Jim Gibson of Edinboro (197 pounds), and Mike Spaid of Bloomsburg (285 pounds).  Good job guys!
