Lock Haven University's Seth Martin.

The Eastern Wrestling League Wrestler of the Week for the week ended January 29, 2006, is Lock Haven University's Seth Martin.  Martin, a health and physical education major, is a junior from Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.

This past Saturday (1/28/06) Mr. Martin won the PSAC championship at 157 pounds, and helped lead the Bald Eagles to a third place finish in the strong nine-team tournament.  Seth scored a fall in the quarter finals, a decision in the semis, then beat Edinboro's Matt Hill 9-2 in the finals.  In the bout with Hill, Martin tallied two take-downs, an escape, riding time, and a three-point near fall after hooking up a third-period cradle.

When the smoke cleared, Lock Haven had a champion, 91 points on the board, and a third-place finish for the team.  The EWL's Edinboro University won the PSAC's, tallying 146 points, and our League's Bloomsburg Huskies placed second in the team race at 113.5.  Seth Martin's season record is 27-8 and his victory in the finals was his 70th collegiate career win.

In addition to Seth Martin's championship at 157 pounds, the nine other EWL grapplers who won PSAC titles this past weekend were:  Mike Sees of Bloomsburg at 125 pounds, Shawn Bunch of Edinboro at 133, Brad Forbes of Bloomsburg at 141, Gregor Gillespie of Edinboro at 149, Deonte Penn of Edinboro at 165, Eric Ring of Edinboro at 174, Alex Clemsen of Edinboro at 184, Joe Fendone of Edinboro at 197, and Mike Spaid of Bloomsburg at 285 pounds.  Congratulations to all!
