West Virginia University's David Jauregui

  The Eastern Wrestling League Wrestler of the Week for the week ended January 15, 2006, is West Virginia University 149-pounder, David Jauregui.  Jauregui is a redshirt freshman from Santa Ana, California, where he competed in high school for Calvary Chapel.  This past weekend at the Virginia Duals the Mountaineers wrestled three matches (winning one), with Mr. Jauregui racking up a win in each match.

  In WVU's opening round victory over Rider University, Jauregui edged Mike Kessler by a score of 10-9.  In the next round David bested nationally ranked Jeffery Jaggers of Ohio State by a score of 8-6, overcoming a 5-2 deficit in the third period.  In WVU's final match of the event, Mr. Jauregui decisioned David Sickles of Columbia University 12-7.
