Bloomsburg University's  Bryce Hasseman

The Eastern Wrestling League's wrestler of the week for the week ended January 30, 2005, is Bryce Hasseman, who competes at 174 pounds for Bloomsburg University.  Bryce is a senior from Indiana, who transferred to Bloomsburg from Northern Illinois.

Last weekend Mr. Hasseman helped lead Bloomsburg to the team title in the PSAC Tournament, held January 28-29 at East Stroudsburg University.  The Huskies racked up 149.5 points to win the nine-team event, with Edinboro University finishing a solid second with 134.5 points. Hasseman opened with a 21-4 major over Chris Goings of Clarion, beat Edinboro's Eric Ring 9-4 in the semi finals, and won by default over Curtis Yeager of Millersville in the championship finals.

Bloomsburg head coach Dan Wirnsberger had nothing but praise for Bryce, noting that he's a very hard worker, team leader, and always fully prepared to compete.  Hasseman, who devoted last year to freestyle, sports a record this season of 27-3.  Hasseman is looking forward to the remainder of the season with a strong focus on the EWL's and NCAA's.

Congratulations to Bryce Hasseman, our Eastern Wrestling League's wrestler of the week!
