The EWL "WRESTLER OF THE WEEK"
for the week ended November 12, 2000

The Eastern Wrestling League "Wrestler of the Week" for week ended November 12, 2000, is West Virginia University freshman GREG JONES. Last year Jones was PIAA champion for Greensburg-Salem. At the West Virginia U. Open Tournament, held on Saturday (11/11/00), Mr. Jones stormed through the 174-pound class with five victories, including a huge 5-2 win in the finals over Eastern Michigan senior Mike Feeney. Entering the event, Feeney was listed top 5 at his weight in various Division I national ranking services. Very nice job, Greg Jones!

In addition, we’ll tip the headgear in recognition of other EWL grapplers who won titles in tournaments this past week – Justin Giovinco, Pitt (WVU Open at 141); J.R. Plienis, LHU (WVU Open at 285); Josh Koscheck, Edinboro (Oklahoma Gold Classic at 174); Kris Smith, Bloomsburg (Oklahoma Gold at 184); David Schunamon, Edinboro (Oklahoma Gold at 197); and Josh Pearce, Edinboro (Oklahoma Gold at 285). Also, three EWL wrestlers won championships at Ashland’s Eagle Open. They were – Phil Mansueto, Cleveland State at 133 pounds; Todd Schuchert, Clarion, at 174; and Gerald Harris, Cleveland State, at 184.
