EWL Athletes/Freshman of the Week (Dec. 8)

Edinboro’s Schopp, Port & Habat named EWL Athletes of the Week; Clagon named EWL Rookie of the Week

EWL Wrestler of the Week – A.J. Schopp, Mitchell Port & Dave Habat (Edinboro)

The redshirt senior trio of A.J. Schopp (133 lbs.), Mitchell Port (141 lbs.), and Dave Habat (149 lbs.) won their fourth consecutive individual PSAC titles on Saturday. It marks the first time in PSAC history that a team has had three four-time champions in its lineup. When the day started just 14 former wrestlers had won four conference crowns. This is an impressive feat by these three gentlemen and therefore all were honored as EWL Wrestlers of the Week. No. 13 Edinboro won the PSAC team title.

EWL Freshman of the Week – BJ Clagon (Rider)

Clagon continued a strong freshman campaign by leading No. 22 Rider to upset win over No. 10 Lehigh. Clagon’s 16-5 win over Lehigh’s Drew Longo was the key for Rider’s upset. This match proved to be the difference in the dual, as both teams won five bouts and criteria was used to determine the winner. Rider won the criteria on total points, 46 to 41, 16 of which were scored by Clagon. The last time Rider won at Lehigh was during the 1993-94 season.
